week ending 6/6/10

Monday- 7 miles 43:25 6:12 pace

All I can say is wow what what a great run today! This is by far the fastest I have run in probably over a year. First 3.5 miles took about 23 minutes and last 3.5 miles in in 20:25 which comes out to 5:50 pace but my last mile was 5:19 so it is a little bit staggered. I felt so great because of the slow run on sunday and my legs were able to recover. Also, the rain and it being memorial day so good sleep helped too. Drank mojitos for the rest of the day with Sara for celebration :)

Tuesday- 6 miles no watch

I ran at 5:30am so I could go out to dinner with my dad, teresa, and adriano. The run went really well actually considering me going fast the day before and being pretty tired when I woke up. Long day of work too because of the holiday weekend. Anyways, it was a good run, no one on the path so that was nice. Dinner was great and it was nice to see my dad for dinner! Good conversation with good people.

Wednesday- 8 miles 51:24 6:25 pace

First 8 miler in a couple months with real training under me and it went well. My bodyhas been feeling so smooth and fluid this week. It's weird to think that I can run this fast after less than a month of training but it feels good knowing I can. The path was packed and I always feel like people are staring at me. I don't like it. It didn't help I was the only the person shirtless, but hey it was hot! Sad I couldn't run in the morning because I couldn't eat with my dad. Going home in 3 weeks which I am realy excited about!

Thursday- 7 miles 45:31

Another good run on lake shore even though I didn't feel too good. It has been a tough week at work from memorial day and me being trained on new work things makes for a long day. This was such an uninteresting run that I got bored and ran faster because of it. Not much to say about this, just got the job done.

Friday- 6 miles no watch

Ran along the path and felt like death. I think this work week combined with the 2 harder runs in the beginning of the week have made me very tired. Yesterday our server went down so I left early from work but sat at a train for 30 minutes so I only got home 15 minutes before but was driving for 1.5 hours. Not cool. So then today I got to work at 7:15am to get the work done I couldn't yesterday. I had to stop four times to force myself to slow down because of all that lactic acid building up. Definitely not a fun run and I was just plain tired.

Saturday- 8 miles 56:54

Ran with Alex in Oak park around a park and then north on Austin. Such a relaxing run for me. Something I definitely needed. I was able to flush out all the lactic acid in my legs and did some good stretching afterwards. Talked about our website and finding an apartment so things are moving along. Nice to run with someone for a change, good conversation makes the run faster. Only 7 miles tomorrow to get my 50!

Sunday- 8 miles 49:50

Another really fast run. I don't know why I can't control myself on these runs. Averaged 6:30 pace for first 4 miles and 6:00 minute pace for the last 4. It wouldn't be so bad but I ran 5:15 for my last mile. I was wearing my flats because I left my trainers at michelle's apartment. It was a great run again but I only wanted to do one threshold type workout this week and I did 2. I'm just really enjoying being in better shape and get too excited. Thinking about signing up for a road race soon. Don't know which one but it will be a 5k. I need to do some research on it.

Week Recap- 50 miles

What a good week of training again. I had two really good fast runs and one relaxing one and the rest just medium runs. I haven't run 50 miles in a week since probably track season which was more then a year ago. This is the best in shape I have not felt this good in a long time and just looking to carry this on into the future. It will be exactly one month come this friday!

I was glad I got a chance to see you two. Adriano talked like he might try to visit too and that would be great! I think when you are totally out of shape it takes longer but I suspect you were not totally out of shape.
